Heavy

The Los Angeles desert sun is beautiful, but when I am in it too long it makes me nauseous.  I grew up in Miami, the humidity is intense, but you are always in air conditioning.  The sun is not as strong there, but the humidity definitely gives you a hug, and my skin was so happy in Miami.

Here my skin is dry, my throat is dry, and it gets even worse when the Santa Ana winds come. Sometimes there is no wind, but dust and heat, my head feels like someone is sitting on it, I feel a heaviness in the air.  It is not sinus, and it is annoying, I have been blessed to not know headaches in my life, when the hot winds come, the headaches come to visit me.  Unfortunately my baby gets the same symptoms and fever as well, poor guy, he is doing better Thank God.

This morning I was home with my recovering little boy, he still was a bit fussy, I finally put him to nap, and dozed off myself for a bit.  I had to get up and go to work, everyone was a bit off today, from the little kids, to the older kids, and even the adults that I taught Yoga to in the evening.

I am happy to be home, and happy to be going to bed.  I glanced online and ran across an amazing video.  It is a video of hope, acceptance, discovery, diversity, and God Willing the future.

Good Night,

Mommy Reality

www.mapjess.com

Not only in cooperating for a good family picture, but in life, parents try to hold it together through crying, tantrums, and I don't want to be here right now.

Last night was a sleepless night, my poor little one had fever, didn't want to take medicine, was in and out of sleep.  Thank God he is feeling better today, but I still have to function.  Luckily in what I do, I am blessed to be able to not have to put on a show, I could just be myself and still teach a class. What is so awesome is that my work recharges me, I get an energy exchange from my students, but now that I am home in between classes, I really want to take a nap.  There are things to do, and I would rather do them now and be done by the time I get home at night after my long but good day.

It is such a beautiful day, we have nothing to complain about ever in Los Angeles.  But then yesterday it was foggy, and now the sun feels too hot, and then what do we wear?  We want Hollywood perfect weather all the time!

My house is quiet in the morning

Santa Ana winds has my throat dry and my baby coughing again, poor guy and poor me, no sleep, somehow we are still pretty
We have early risers and that is a good thing, I need to have my oldest in Kindergarten by 8:10am or he accumulates tardy's and the parents get in trouble.  Luckily they all wake up between 6-7am, we do it all in the morning, breakfast, shower, lunches, and go!  What is quiet is everything else in our home, there is no TV, or any other distractions, my kids could go play in their room if they are ready earlier than we have to leave.

I really love quiet, on Monday and Thursday are the nights I am home and can do homework, so there is no TV.  Other nights it is a treat if they earned it to watch a few of their favorite shows before bed.

Today was magic, had an amazing meeting with like minded, powerful women, excited for what is to come.  We were talking about networking, energy, connections, right place at the right time, and the law of attraction.  Online I have been coming across these themes as well.

The universe is actually continually emerging from probability (Nothing) into actuality (Something) - on a constant basis. Creation didn't happen in the past - it's happening every moment.

Spirituality resides not in the mind alone but in intentions and actions. The introspective life is not by itself enough. We live in a community of souls, and we must perform good deeds within that community

We can not truly appreciate light, unless we have experienced darkness.
Today's Tanya.

I finished my day with an amazing Prenatal Yoga class and PE was quite chill because winter break is coming up, looking forward.

So tired,
Wish us a good nights sleep,

MEASLES

Beautiful day at a fun celebration of the birthday of trees, the Jewish holiday that just passed recently Tu B Shvat.
There were cute moments to snap of the kids, but I was just enjoying watching them have fun.
CHOICES.  Who should make important choices?  Today I had an option of taking my kids to a classical concert or a Tu B Shvat, Jewish holiday event.  I really want them to learn and appreciate music, but their Jewish heritage is at the top of my list, we had a great time.

I vaccinate my kids, we live in a multi-cultural city, we will be travelling abroad in the future, it was right for my family.  I respect choices, and I also want to be educated and make my own choices.  I feel the following two articles really represent both sides.

The article titled Invisible Bullet in the following link very powerfully makes the point of vaccination, http://issuu.com/jewishhomela/docs/la_jh_1-29-15_lo/19?e=7985120/11172943.

I also ran across some valid reasoning on allowing the government to force anything, where would it start and where would it end

What if you never have the right to refuse?

"Whether you're pro-vaccine, anti-vaccine, or fall somewhere in the middle, the questions you need to ask yourselves are as follows: Do you want to live in a world, where you cannot freely refuse a medical procedure that carries risk of injury or death?

I'm not questioning your comfort level with today's vaccine schedule, because today's vaccine schedule will change. New vaccines and additional doses are added all the time. Children today receive as many as 49 doses of 14 vaccines before they reach age six, which is roughly 12 times higher than the number of vaccines administered to children back in 1940.

With more than 220 new vaccines in the developmental pipeline for children and adults...and no end in sight..the question you must ask yourself is ARE YOU CERTAIN you will be 100% comfortable when 200 more vaccines are added to the mandated list in the future?

If you say that yes, you're comfortable, then you're either:
     a) not expecting to be a parent or grandparent,
     b) don't think about it much because your kids are grown and out of the house, or
     c) lying to prove a point.

No critical thinker, no honest person, would ever sign off on the sight-unseen vaccine schedule of the future. And yet that's what you're doing when you condemn the people who are fighting for your right to refuse. YOU have the right to refuse, should you ever choose to use it, because the very "anti-vaccine" people you demonize have been fighting for us all.

Right now, the burden of "herd immunity" falls on small children, but that is changing. Vaccine manufacturers see an untapped market in adolescent and adult vaccine. They are coming for you next. What will you do if your state, your employer, or your insurance company forces you to get a vaccine that you simply don't want. It hasn't happened to you yet, but if the right to refuse is eroded, it will happen to you sooner than you might think. Who will you turn to? Your legislators who get campaign donations from pharmaceutical companies? The CDC that has former pharma executives sitting on the board? Who will you turn to if you ever want to say no?

What if it harms you, even kills you or your family member? There will be no recourse. No one to blame. You absorb all the medical bills. Deal with all the anger, all the guilt. Alone.

Once we enter the slippery slope of removing and individual's right to refuse medical procedures that carry a risk of injury or death, once we remove an individual's right to speak for him/herself and his/her children, we open ourselves up to an insidious new era, where other drugs and other procedures can be mandated.

I heard (on NPR, interestingly enough) that there are people who want to test for a gene marker that's been found in mass shooters in the hopes that they can put the carriers of that gene on medications in early childhood. Sounds great, right? But many of us carry genes that will never be expressed. You could be a carrier of that gene. Or your child could be a carrier.

So if we follow the "for the greater good" mentality behind vaccines (or the Nazi's "for the greater good" mentality behind eugenics - the breeding out illness. We are looking at forcing people who may never express a sociopathic gene to take antipsychotics, just in case.
Because that's what forced vaccination does. It asks children who may never come into contact with a particular virus to accept a vaccine, just in case. And that's what eugenics was all about. It sterilizes people who can pass on a genetic disease - just in case.

Forced vaccination is a human rights violation. To support it when you know that the government's own National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP) has paid nearly $3b to damaged persons. The government's Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) lists people who have died as a result of vaccines. Vaccination is unethical at best, sociopathic at worst.

What can we do?
1. The ethical thing to do is to allow people their right to refuse. Let doctors and big pharma - who has marketing budgets larger than the GDP of some countries - to do a better job of convincing parents that vaccines are safe, protective and harmless.
2. Reverse the law that grants vaccine manufacturers total immunity from vaccine injury lawsuits. You can't sue a vaccine manufacturer if your child is injured or killed by a vaccine, even in cases where a safer vaccine was available and not chosen.

Think about that. You can't sue the manufacturer. What other product has legal and government protection? The complete immunity from liability does more to shake a parents' confidence in vaccines than anything else. Be sure they know that with an adverse outcome from a vaccine, they are completely on their own."

I will end with the legal facts in California, very interesting thread if you click on the link and scroll down to the post below.

Coach Yulia

I posted a few days ago regarding vaccinations and the anti-vaxx community. I don't care to debate the issue, nor will I be drawn into a debate about the issue. I am simply telling you that if you exercise your "right" to not vaccinate, I will encourage prosecutions of you. This isn't a debatable issue, its a fact. So, your opinions on this matter are not relevant to me at all.
Right now, California has an potential bill that will abolish vaccination opt-outs. I.e., ALL PARENTS WILL BE FORCED, BY THE STATE, TO VACCINATE THEIR CHILDREN (It will allow an opt-out for medical reasons).
Again, your personal belief or your desire to debate the issue is totally irrelevant. Choose not to vaccinate, and we will choose to prosecute you. Its that simple. You can spout your idiotic beliefs from behind the prison bars.

A group of state lawmakers announced legislation Wednesday that would abolish an exemption from the mandate that children get vaccinated before they enter school if...

Master Race

Today was my
day of information, I ran across some amazing articles which I would like to share.  All of them have one thing in common, the idea of a Master Race, of a people that have more rights and are making the decisions for everyone else.  The scary thing is many of these decisions are legal in history at the time, and what was so powerful about the movie Selma to me was that it was not only about non violent protests, but about changing the laws.  The one thing I heard the Jewish community wishing there was more representation of how the Jews helped in the Civil Rights movement.  I read an amazing article listing specific facts and areas where Jewish people stood by African-Americans specifically because they personally experienced discrimination, racism, and that it does not end with one race, eventually the discrimination will continue to others, read all about it,
http://jewishhomelablog.com/2015/02/03/jews-mlk-and-the-african-american-civil-rights-movement/.

Recently there was a commemoration of the 70 years since the liberation of Aushwitz.  Even though this is my history, I am still learning every day, and am fascinated of the mentality of the world at that time, why many people did not believe the horrors, they actually did not believe something like that could happen.  This article really goes step by step about why the world did not react sooner,
http://issuu.com/jewishhomela/docs/la_jh_1-29-15_lo/29?e=7985120/11172943.

All of this has me thinking about today's scary Jihadist's that want to annihilate anybody that does not follow their ways or gets in their way.  All of the attacks on Jewish people all over the world, and daily verbal and military attacks on Israel.  Then I run across this article about a Jewish family that has lived in Britain for generations, but is choosing to leave because of the non stop attacks all over the world on innocent Jewish people, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/11393427/Were-leaving-Britain-Jews-arent-safe-here-any-more.html.

I am also watching Rosewater, a movie about an Iranian journalist that has lived in London, and went back to Iran to cover an election, and got arrested for filming what they didn't want the world to see. It is so scary about media and governments, propaganda, and figuring out what is the reality.

Hopefully I am doing my part on spreading the truth,
God Bless America,
God Bless Israel,
God Bless all the nations, races, and cultures of the world,
There is no such thing as a Master Race.

I will leave you with my Yoga thoughts,
There is not one way, there is no perfect way, there is just your way,

Life and Death

There are so many thoughts in my head today, ranging from life to death.  I am excited to offer a Prenatal Yoga class at noon on Monday, February 9, only $10 if its your first time at the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics, http://www.lagymnastics.com/.  Please email me at coachyulia@gmail.com or contact me at 323.377.0707 to RSVP.

I am in the business of life and living, my Yoga and Pilates classes are preventive maintenance for a lifetime of health.  I am a witness of the miracle of life with my Doula Clients, also encouraging mom to stay healthy during her pregnancy with Prenatal Yoga, Walking, Good Nutrition, Sleep, and Happiness.

Unfortunately our world is full of the other side, death, it comes in all forms.  Recently a member of our Jewish community passed away too young, then we have the cycle of life, and although sad, we also stay strong remembering our loved ones and celebrating their life.  Then this morning while driving my kids to school I was listening to National Public Radio and I heard a horrible story about Sweden, where I heard something scary and it really made me think of where I am from, and where I am now.  It said, "The people attacking Jews are Muslim immigrants," you can listen to it below.

http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.htmlaction=1&t=1&islist=false&id=384223030&m=384223031.

My parents left the Soviet Union because there was blatant discrimination against Jewish people, they knew who was Jewish by the Passport that everyone had to show, under nationality it said Jewish. People were refused jobs, good schools, and other services because they were Jewish.  In America we are white, so we blended in, and learned about African-American history, and even now people are experiencing racism and hatred just because of the color of their skin.  The story above talks about immigration, and how some people assimilate and some want to keep their ways, while others want to impose their way onto their new home.  Although America is not perfect, I feel grateful that at least we are having conversations, and my son proudly wears his keepa every day to school.

I will leave you with this, when somebody turns something sad into something good, it keeps on inspiring others.

Caroline's Cart
A shopping cart at the grocery store this week reminded me an important lesson just when I needed it most.
We had gone to buy a Kosher birthday cake for my son who turns five tomorrow. The store didn’t have what we needed so we left without a purchase but on the way out we acquired a lesson to keep for life.
At the entrance of the store I noticed a unique looking shopping cart that I had never seen before. It was called ‘Caroline’s Cart’ and was a shopping cart created especially for children with special needs.
Without even knowing the story, I knew the story. I figured it must have been a family that had given birth to a special needs child and decided that one of the ways they would embrace their challenge would be to use it in some way to help others going through a similar situation, so they launched a campaign to install such carts at grocery stores everywhere. A quick check with my friend Mr. Google confirmed my thoughts.
After spending almost a year now sharing with you my own journey of grief, inspiration and belief, it has become clear as day to me that using your own personal challenges and struggles as a vehicle to help others is by far the biggest help you can give yourself.
But it can become overwhelming at times, especially when a milestone such as a Yahrtzeit is about to be reached. The human self would rather focus inward and not on saving others.
And then I noticed ‘Caroline’s Cart’.
I sat in my car and tried to imagine Caroline's parents at their home, getting so much joy and meaning out of reading thank you notes from grateful parents across the country enjoying time with their special needs child while shopping for groceries.
What they don’t know about are the thousands of others that don’t write. Even people without a special needs child that are inspired by their project.
What they don’t know is that their invention even inspired a grieving Rabbi to continue sharing his story in the hopes of inspiring others while strengthening himself.
As the Kotzker Rebbe once said: When it is gets cold outside one has two options, put on a coat or build a fire. Put on a coat and you will be warm, build a fire and you will warm many others along with you.

Let's be the light,
Lets keep talking,
Let's Accept and Respect Ourselves,
Let's Accept and Respect Others,
Shabbat Shalom,

Face Yourself

Yes these kind of pictures are what happens when I take a moment to go online, and then they run over to me.  My baby is wearing one of five clown noses that my husband and I brought home from a party we went to, yes adult party of people that dress like clowns, but that is another blog.

So today I had an amazing quiet Pilates class, and new people were tuning in, people that sometimes are obsessed with their phones paid attention to themselves instead.  Someone glanced in and asked me the difference between Yoga and Pilates.  I always explain in like this, Yoga is a full body experience, as well as a relaxation for the mind.  Pilates is core, abdominals, glutes, and lower back strengthening.  What they have in common is that it is an exercise where the mind and body have to connect, or else the workout is not as effective, and if the form is not correct it could cause injury

It is not easy to be in a quiet room, and putting your attention on your breath and form, the mind keeps on trying to wander.  It is not easy to deal, to face yourself, to accept and respect where you are, to keep working on it, practicing, because that is how we learn, by practice.

I like to face life,
I enjoy when my classes are a place where people feel safe to open up and face themselves,
Thank you for allowing my flow,
Thank you for the energy exchange,
Coach Yulia
