Preparing to Rest

PEEK - A - BOO

I got a call from a friend last night inviting Sam and I to the breeder's cup all day from 9am-5pm.
I wasn't sure what it was but figured it has something to do with horses, click on the link for info.

I was explaining to him that Fridays the kids are in school for half a day, if it was a regular day they are in school until 4pm, and we could have figured it out with play dates, as well as for the baby.  I was also telling him how Friday night we always have a meal, and the whole day Friday is preparing the house, cleaning, cooking, usually hosting guests.  He was intrigued by the concept of preparing to rest.

All of Saturday we turn off the world, no TV, phone, computer, or car, and enjoy our community and friends, usually at the synagogue, and then a festive meal, and at home we just hang out, and talk and play with each other with no technology in the way.  I really appreciate this law and concept, the law to rest on the seventh day is just magic, it is necessary for our well being and balance, and I take full advantage.

My work week is from Sunday to Thursday, non stop all day, Friday is a Yoga class just for me in the morning, then helping with the house, then once the kids are home, we all get ready together, something I get the kids out of the way so my husband could be uninterrupted.

Thank God for who we attract in our lives, Thank God for finding the right fit, Thank God for the Day of Rest.

Signing off,
Have a Great Weekend,
Shabbat Shalom
