In my understanding the middle path is exactly that, staying away from the extremes. I love to say excess once in a while is moderation, and how it is healthy to allow a little bit of everything. Nonetheless extremes cannot be fed, should not be yearned, may not be the go to way of being. It is challenging to elaborate, but to me this makes all the sense in the world.
Here are some more quotes from Rambam, so powerful, universal and timeless.
I wish what I totally get, I can express into simple terms. That is however the whole point of it all, everyone will get it differently, and that is good, we are all unique, nobody feels the same, looks the same, or wants the same thing, there is room for everybody, so just be you.
It is very sad when people want to escape being themselves, hurt themselves, or were hurt deeply and cannot escape it. There was a recent story I read of a man that was attacked as a child by someone he never saw, he turned away from Judaism, and courageously stood up against child abuse in the community. Now that I have children myself, this just touches my soul, I look at him and think I would have liked to know him, seems like such an amazing guy, I wish him peace. The Jewish Community Watch was recently formed and is opening conversations, supporting victims and giving them a voice, as well as putting up a wall of shame and focusing on prosecuting the abusers.
May we all keep delving deep into ourselves,
Treating ourselves with respect and kindness,
Treating everyone around us with respect and kindness,
Isn't that the whole point of humanity?
Building relationships,
Building bridges,
Building each other up,
That is the path I prefer,
The Feel Good Path,
Being of Service,
Being True to Yourself,
Balance,
Recharge,
Give,
Repeat,
