Good Tired |
- physical
- emotional
- intellectual
- spiritual
If one of them are missing, then it will feel incomplete and not fulfilling, something will be missing. I feel that those four ways of connecting are important in everything we do. Many people show up physically, but are they there on other levels?
We need to show up for our family, our commitments, to take care of ourselves, work, and even play. We schedule our day, but are we 100% present while going through it?
It makes me think when my son was three, and he was having tantrums and it freaked his school out, and they told us we had to go to therapy, and I thought, what could it hurt. I think we all are on a constant learning curve as parents. She had told my husband and I since we have our own businesses and are always picking up our phone because it could be a client, one of us has to be off the phone when we are with our kids. Sounds simple, but phones have become literally an appendage, we feel so lost without them. I took my kids all over town, but I didn't realize that I was always multitasking. So after that session, I was with my big boy in a playground, and was not on my phone, and he looked and me and was so happy to tell me "wow, you are smiling at me." It is amazing how there are so many options for "fun" for our kids, but all they want is their parents to be excited and present doing anything and everything with them.
It also makes me think about my Doula role, sometimes I am not physically present, but my intellectual, emotional, and even spiritual energy is on the clock. Every situation is so different, and I go into a new situation with no preconceived notions, no plan, just to be present and face whatever is heading our way (double entendre :)
How do you show up?
Is All Of You There?
Jumping into bed now,
All of me is turning completely off,
I Love Sleep,
Good Night,
