It's Today, it's Today!

Have any of you watched the movie Stuart Little, about a mouse who gets adopted by a nice human family, and the little boy who is getting a little brother says excitedly at the beginning of the movie, it's today, it's today!  This is one of the few movies that is funny and silly and my kids aren't scared of.  I tried the Disney ones, and they literally make them cry, however I do love Nemo, but the beginning shark scene is scary as well.

Today is a day where many American's start to celebrate Christmas with their family and friends, and I hope everyone who celebrates has a wonderful, delicious, and warm time together.  I have many friends from all walks of life, and I love to hear about traditions, happy moments and memories, and I always love to hear about the food.

In Russia in the communist times religion was not allowed, but everyone celebrated New Year's, and what is funny to me is that they had their own version of a Christmas tree and Santa Claus which they called Grandpa Frost.  I never felt attached to these traditions, and when my parents left Russia for religious freedom, I never craved it.  Some Russian Jews love their New Year traditions and still have a tree.  I feel very connected to my Judaism, and felt that it was more of a religious symbol than a New Year one.

I think it is beautiful that at this time of year overall everyone is in the spirit of giving, caring, helping and reaching out.  In my opinion this should be a year round way of being.

Happy Holidays Everyone,
Enjoy your family and traditions,
